Hearts of Blue Lead Back to You

The blue sky

A hundred faces in this world

But only a few reminded me of yours

The sink chokes while I fix my collar in the mirror

This is my private life, like yours but different

Your pictures and posts cut at the electric wire

That zaps and strangles my heart

Your tears are cropped out by a freshly painted frame

And I see the timeline of when you were just a ghost

In the seat beside me

The door bell rings and someone walks in

Faceless and jewelry adorned

Asks if I have a boyfriend

Asks what I do in school all day

Asks me things I can’t seem to remember

The doorbell rings, someone walks in

This time it’s you

And you don’t have to ask because you already know

Because my eyes tell it all

My dreams unfold right on the dinning room table

And I’m not afraid anymore because I know my tears are in your heart

-Now I’m alone, the lamp flickers with mosquitoes

And your pulse is somewhere across those endless moonlit fields

I thought I was drowning last night

But then I saw your face underneath

The foaming currents

Deep down in the place where it’s peaceful and green

And you’re smiling and grabbing for my hands

And just when we touch a black ink squirts through my brain

When I wake up you know my mind

I don’t have to find you because your lying right next to me

Right up in that great garden in the sky
