Watched the news today

It said a ten year old girl

Witnessed her parents get gunned down

My eyes began to swell

Sorrow and heartbreak inundate my soul

As if I had pulled the trigger

Why, why, why I ask myself

And when, when, when

Why must that innocent child

Be scarred for the rest of her life

Why couldn’t she have spent more precious

Time withy her mommy and daddy

And when will it end

Not just undergo a mere cutback

But completely cease

Poor youth

You have no choice

But to be consumed

I hope that some how, some way

You can escape the madness

 And fulfill your dreams

For these treacherous times

Are no place for you to be
