Sleeping, Awakening, Listening
I was around the age of nine
Mom and Dad were in the other room
The feelings I felt, were words I couldn't define.

Talking, Arguing, Yelling
Fear struck my heart
This family was driving apart
Tears came to my eyes
As words added to the demise.

Frustration got me out of bed
Strength brought me to the door
Courage took me to my parents
And Daddy struck me to the floor.

Falling, Crying, Trying
Screaming “Daddy come back,
Mommy‘s having a heart attack.”
But no he didn't turn around
He left to his car, and spoke a silent sound.

Panicking, Reaching, Dialing
Searching for a way
Only to find her hand slipping away.
Sirens screamed far across town,
Now she’s up there, looking down.

I still toss and turn,
Waiting for her return.
That was eight years ago,
That’s enough time to grow.

Bothering, Wanting, Regretting
Writing letters to me.
No daddy, I strongly disagree.
He came to my door and asked to come in.
Where have you been?

Pity made me let him in
Indignation brought me to my gun
Anticipation got me to listen to what he had to say
Revenge drew me to pull the trigger
And underground is where he shall forever stay.
