Heart of Fire

Hearts thumping, pumping, jumping all around

Every man looks upon the blaze from the fire engine

5,4, 3, 2, 1 action! Every man with their own job, training

They go without hesitation,

I go with fear, fear holds us back, but fear keeps us alive.

I go in, take one out.

I go in, take one out.

An endless cycle commences, I began liberating them from the flames

I go in, take one out.

I go in, take one out.

Cry for liberation is heard

3 went in,

The blaze soon spreads all around, my fear told me to go

And I listened letting fear drive the wave, but my friends didn’t

They hoped to save one last soul.

I go out, I’m outside

I have eluded the jaws of death.

The others weren’t as lucky

The flame has been slain but not without losses

I buried two friends today because I let fear dictate my life.

Fear kept me alive but at what cost.
