Heart broken and alone
Once I might have thought of broccoli as trees,
Or never had to worry about hidden fees.
Once I might have laughed all day,
With one concern of what game to play.
Without a doubt,
My carefree days would soon ware out.
Perhaps it was the way my appetite bloomed
When I knew my childhood days were doomed.
Perhaps it was even my work before play prioritizing
That gave way to my behaviors moralizing.
Nonetheless, my motives were evolving
And my carefree-ness was dissolving.
Out of everything I can say,
I knew I had grown when my heart was left astray.
Hurt, broken and alone,
I learned how to be on my own.
After so many growing pains,
Heart break broke the chains,
Of my child-like remains.
