Heal Her

I remember hearing voices and recognizing faces

I remember her first early thoughts as a child.

Vivid memories keep coming back and some specific ones too.

I remember playing in the sandbox

and trying to see who would catch the swings first.

I remember wearing mommy's makeup and playing dress-up.

I remember passing notes to my crush

To see if he likes me or not.

I also remember playing Barbies with my cousins

And asking Mom if I could sleep over.

I remember wearing those ugly hot pink

“Girl Power” shirts.

But I also remember getting yelled at

For being too loud or too little.

I remember getting yelled at for being shy around family

I barely even knew

Does this relate to you? Any of it?

Growing into 13 going on 16 I remember!!!

Times of times were I was let down and heartbreak happened

I remember!!!

The body shaming,

the name-calling,

the fights, the grades,

 the pure pressure

Everything that you could think of.

The relationships get harder

And your heart gets colder

I remember when he swept me off my feet

And when he broke me down to my knees.

Heal her is what I say.

Heal her from the trauma and pain.

Pick her up gently with your caring hands and heal her.

Heal her is what I say.

Heal Her.
