Head up, Back out, Chest up

Head up, back out, chest up

Posture of the perfect latina

But still my body created an S shape, shame pressing my body down

Afraid to express my femininty,

Simultanelously trying to juggle two different cultures,

Silence was my way to rebel

As I grew the S became more prominent

College rolled by and my surroundings changed

I was far from the culture that pressured feminity and amongst those who knew nothing  of my Latinx background

I was the alien once more

Still I was never so appreciative of the culture that pressured me

I became intune with my body and the S disappeared

With it I gained my voice
