Hardest Thing

I'm filled so full of bitterness
Anger, hatred, rage
Rereading all the hurt you gave
I cannot turn the page

You promised so much glitter
Illusion's all I see
For all you gave were raw black scars
And pain that swallows me

You took my heart and pierced it
Then left a gaping hole
You lied, abused, you stole and used
And crushed my tender soul

I lay nights on my pillow
Weeping in the dark
Did you think that on my life
You'd fail to leave a mark?

And now I'm scarred forever
Fire burns my veins
My halo cracked and bloody
Thank God, Christ washed my stains

Now pushing past the bitter
I see through clearer eyes
You are human just like me
I fell for all your lies

How can I only blame you
When ignorance I feigned
Our nature is so fragile
It locks us up in chains

And though you struck me badly
And threw me to the side
I'm better than you in NO way
And now I crush my pride

Because I know the right thing
Is the hardest thing to do
And once I was shown mercy
So I'm forgiving you
