The Hard Knock Life

Sat, 08/01/2015 - 14:01 -- TTAYLOR

Am I a flea struggling to free myself from the web of a spider,

Or am I a leprechaun skipping to the end of a rainbow?

Am I a chameleon who camouflages from turmoil,

Or am I a butterfly eager to escape from my pinfold?

I am she, one who constantly endeavors to succeed.

Who is considered ambitious to achieve,

Knowing what and what not to believe,

Believing that I have not been deceived

But, deceiving myself from my past grief

That has vested pain in my life, my family and me.

Striving to manage and attain

What my past has thrown at me

Not to gain,

But to haul with me through life,

To look back and take advice

From the past that did not entice

The past that I disliked

But the past that took a hike to get me to where I like.

Bittersweet describes those days,

Beautiful describes these days.

The days I would not trade for anything.

I thank my Lord for the rough patches he has put me through,

Which blossomed into the admiring, selfless, and awesome life that grew.
