Happiness Without Happiness

As I sit there counting the stars, I think of you.

A smile appears on my face, as if by magic.

This time that we’ve spent together was the best of my life,

and I don’t want to let this go.

With reluctance, I make the choice.

Although we loved each other, the “spark” just isn’t there anymore.

We were so happy together, yet what we had, was just lust.

Is there such thing as happiness?

Or is it just a term that we use to define a feeling we can’t describe?

Happiness can fool you into doing things that you normally wouldn’t do,

or rushing into things too fast.

Happiness is something that everyone is taught to feel.

It flies into your heart like a bird,

and makes a nest in your heart.

The bitter winter winds of sorrow chase this happiness out when our hearts have been wounded.

I loved the happiness that we shared and I hope the happiness that took roost in my heart, will stay through the harsh winter that is life

Happiness is a feeling I don't have when I reminisce on the happy moment we once had!
