Happiness

In the modern day of chaos, violence begets violence and the innocent try to stray,
From what they’ve come to know worse, all they can do is pray
And hope for a better ‘morrow, for their children and their children’s children alike;
But in this day, for in this war, we all know that someone just has to fight.

A scornful word, a hateful gabble, disregard for other’s own intentions,
A violent encounter, a painful end, crushing other’s with their own inhibitions.
We, pained, stagger on as if stabbed and stabbed and stabbed again,
Hoping to see, hoping to hear, and hoping to embrace a peaceful yet subtle end.

But why should we embrace, a fate not sealed or written in stone,
Why should we let violence corrupt, pervert, desecrate our homes?
From the lives that we’ve grown in, to the lives that are yet to come
Man can’t comprehend the destructible value of violence’s inevitable sum.

War, famine, poverty, casualties, loss for all, and gain for few,
With all in war, the truths are never new.
People die, the innocent pay,
For what the ignorant have to say.

For what the heartless use to kill,
For when one proclaims violence a pristine skill.
Yet with no end, here the ignorant all march forward.
Babbling and cursing, for blood to spill, they lust toward

To the face of their enemies, and in the battle to pursue
The innocent pay, a sight that never seems new.
When will it end, some might ask.
When will we understand each other, and work towards one task.

Not just war, but becoming better, becoming stronger than before
Seeking not dominance or power, but something worth so much more
Something we all want, whether the fight for it is worth it all or worth few for some,
We all want happiness, yet with war, we have yet to see the day happiness comes.
