Disabled: Adjective

Having a physical or mental disability: Unable to preform one or more natural function. (Such as walking or speaking because of an illness or injury etc.

It was 1:00 o' clock in the afternoon on a Saturday and I received an e-mail from my new roommate.

I was so exited to hear from my college roommate I miss read and miss spelled her name what a first impression, right?

I sent a very apologetic e-mail back saying  "sorry I am quite dyslexic. To be honest I am more than quite dyslexic; I am extremely dyslexic. I also have ALL other characteristics of LD.

I was always taught never to use the word disability. Always use the word to use the word: Challenge.

Like if the word disability is a swear. I later learned that the word is not people avoided it like the pelage.

My question to the world is why are we so scared of disability?

If I like it or not I am a full-fledged member of the disability community. Like if denying that I have a disability will make will magically make school easier. Or make me the national spelling bee champion , an award winning author, or a mathematician.

Mostly likely not.

And I am okay with that. I accept that and focuses on what I can do.

It is important to understand people with disability are not  extraordinary because they live with disability. They are simply living with the cards that they were dealt.

Do not get me wrong, it's really hard some days but if you ask most people living with disability ,overcoming is not their greatest life accomplishment.

The real message to all is never give up, no matter what.

Because to one degree or another we all are Handy-capable?
