The Green
As I look at the rainbow I choose a color for me,
Is it red? Is it blue? No it is green.
It represents something we all need to survive,
And it inspires me to work hard as long as I am alive.
My beginnings weren't humble as some like to believe,
Although my parents had just enough to take care of I would need.
With no silver spoons and eating the midsection of a hog,
I learned I needed money to live out my call[ing].
The green won't buy me happiness and it won't buy me fame,
But it will pay for things and make it easier for me,
And for that I'm not ashamed.
