Great Responsiblity

She swung into my life like a hero

Fallen from her pedestal

Protecting the innocent

As only a single mother could

I watched week after week as the capers unfolded

And it seemed at moments that the villains would win

But she prevailed however she could

Even if that meant making sacrifices

Like going months without a cellphone

And taking on three different jobs

As her sidekick I learned

Sometimes the people with the most responsibility feel the weakest

But their power lies in not giving up
