Goddess Wisdom

I was kissed by a goddess today.

Uncertainty grew restless as it paced across my heart.

So I recognized my worth and I spoke of my doubts.

If only I had known

How the chaos of my voice would awaken the storm that festered inside her.

I was kissed by a goddess today.

When I spoke, I beckoned for her thunder.

The sound of aching, furious screams swallowed the air around me.

When I resisted, I called forth her sleet and hail.

The onslaught of striking resentment fractured the boldness within me.

I was kissed by a goddess today.

If only I had known

How love hides clenched fists and contempt behind soft lips you've learned to trust.

If only I had known

How the bruises left by goddess kisses leave a haunting ache inside your bones.
