Girl in the mirror

She’s not the definition of perfection

As she studies her reflection

Theirs pieces missing, pain and tears

Surrounded by self-conscious thoughts and fears

Theirs a girl with a smile, forced for all to see

A girl living up to expectations based on what you want her to be

Living her life for everyone around her

Instead of doing what she’d prefer

She endlessly cries tears upon the fall of night

But there is no one to help in sight

This girl I speak of is weak and alone

As she suffers through life on her own

It’s hard each day, but she makes it through

Struggling in everything she has to do

As I glance at my reflection it is clear

That what I see is this girl, as I shed my last tear
