Friendship by Glena M. Waterhouse

A blazing sun hangs high above,

beating down upon the ground

in a world that is devoid of life

there’s silence all around,

and yet like hope eternal

a single seed is sown,

and slowly, ever so slowly,

begins to grow alone.

A single flower blooming

amongst the burning sands,

has brought a spark of beauty

to this dark and barren land.

It spreads its roots throughout the world,

more flowers start to spring,

the sounds of life can now be heard

as birds begin to sing.

It will keep on growing,

and eventually you will see,

the beauty of this newborn realm

of peace and harmony.

I know that this true because

this barren land was me,

and that I was slowly dying,

was plain for all to see.

but all that is now changing

for you are a single rose,

through your warmth and understanding,

our friendship ever grows.
