Friends

Friends are God’s gifts

When darkness swallows you

And you can’t get up

They light a candle

And join you in your struggle.

Friends don’t leave and wait for you to follow.

When you’re lying on the floor

And everything is falling apart

They wrap you up

And hold you together

Friends catch the tears

Even when you’ve drenched their shoulder

And you’ve cried a river,

They are still there to offer a hug

And a box of tissues

Friends never really leave you,

Even if they physically do.

They still stay in your heart

And they’re only a phone call away.

So when the darkness comes

When the pain inside grows deeper

When words can’t describe my hurting

I will look up and see your shining faces

And you will be my light in the darkness.

I couldn’t do this without you!
