Freedoms In My Hand
Location
We let these little rivers flow
Until they reached the ocean
In one simple motion
Our hopes were at sea.
And me and we
Forgot,
That this is what THEY paid for
What THEY bought
And in one simple motion
Our dreams reverse floated
To the bottom of the ocean
And we became the rocks
With mold growing over
While they played the stocks
That our lives are sold for
And they became the movement
And the flow
While we, we slowly let go.
Of all control of the future
And that futures grown bleak
In our minds and on the streets
Because once we heard
That yes we could
And it was on these streets
That we all stood
And cheered
While our opposition jeered
At the facts of our triumph.
But now as rocks we sit
With mold growing over
Silence at the bottom of a watery pit
No more to the citizen soldier
But I heard a cry
In this watery deep
Where the young and the old
Don't dare to speak
I heard a cry
And it came from within
That change is in motion
And I don't think well win
There's no one in arms
And no arms left to fight
And all the doogooders
Have, goddamnit, taken flight
And for all the rest
The ocean blurs sound
So it's so hard to get this word around
That freedom too,
Took flight
With all the doogooders
and their little might
So here we lie
Here it is that we rest
The leftovers,
of what WE THOUGHT was best
But I heard that cry
From deep in my soul
At the bottom of this pit
Our cause, is not yet sold
So muster what you have
And take stock of what you don't
We've gotta float to the surface
With a brand new purpose
To fight for whats ours and been ours all along
Its been written on posters
Its been sung in songs
Its been laid down on paper
Its been brought up in arms!
Its been forgotten by the people
Its been waiting for a hand
Its been twisted by the richeous
Where its sitting, shining up on the sand.
