What will it take for you to see

The side of me I want to be?

Must I walk and talk and dress

Just like all the rest?

Can I show you who I am?

Who I'm meant to be?

Is this all a scam

Or can I finally be free?

Free to make a mess

Free to say no or yes

To know it is worth it

To have my spirit.

I don't sugarcoat a thing

I don't live like a king

I don't need a man

I don't have a tan.

I'm sick of the game

That the world wants to play

No one stays the same

When we're all on display.

I don't want to be like them

When they so easily condemn

Just for the fame

They aim to maim.

I may be a nerd

But is that so absurd?

I may be smart

But at least I have a heart.

Don't you want to be free?

To just be you

To be able to see

How you grew.

I want to be free

I aim to just be me

Maybe one day you will see it, too

The beautiful, marvelous you.
