Forever Love

The only love that I have ever known
Was sweet beyond my wildest hopes and dreams
But died just as quickly as it had grown
My love was never meant to be it seems

The night was young, the ice lying in wait
Like a serpent waiting in the tall grass
His car, it rushed along the interstate
And skidded out of control on the pass

I mourned his passing as only I could
With many tears and prayers asking why
My only solace: walking in the wood
Where I could be alone and softly cry

My only comfort is the believe that we
Can be together for eternity
