Forbidden Fruit
To her forbidden fruit tast’d the sweetest.
The fruit she knew should never be tasted,
Yet its love she wanted above the rest.
One offered her marriage; gave her the best-
All his love, yet still she thirst and hungered.
To her, forbidden fruit tast’d the sweetest.
Another she noticed amongst the rest,
A serpent- he slunk, slithered- she trembled,
Yet its love she wanted above the rest.
He’d lure her in the night to a hillcrest,
Where under the moon, astray she was led.
To her, forbidden fruit tast’d the sweetest.
His desires she surely did detest.
He had her by her throat, tightly coiled,
Yet its love she wanted above the rest.
His presence alone dripped sweat down her chest;
Writhing in fear, yet in love- encompassed.
To her, forbidden fruit tast’d the sweetest,
And its love she wanted above the rest.
