Five More Seconds
One thin slice and only one, one last time and then I’m done.
Blood soon beads and spills out red. Five more seconds and I’ll be dead.
“I don’t want this,” I try to say.
I don’t want my life to end this way.
There’s still so much I have to do, I have to tell the truth to you.
One thin slice and only one, one last time and then I’m done.
Blood soon beads and spills out red. Five more seconds and I’ll be dead.
As I lay upon the floor, hearing the creak of my front door,
counting the steps come down the hall, the closer to death I seem to crawl.
“Don’t go” you whisper in my ear.
Reaching up, I wipe away your tears.
“I love you,” I say before I die.
“I love you more,” was your only reply.
One thin slice and only one, one last time and then I’m done.
Blood soon beads and spills out red. Five more seconds and I was dead.
