Fisherman's Paradise

Your river soothed me
When I was young
No city lights
To obscure your moon.

My only friend, Maylee
Sat outside as a tree.
Trying to tell me,
I wasn't crazy.

You're filled with nothing!!!
A black hole for dreams.
Suffocation in your grasp,
Sentencing them to death.

But you are what made me dream...
For something better than you
So one day I could come back and say...
I proved you wrong, go choke on your hay.

I never thought I'd miss you
Your nature calls me back
My memories stop me
From returning to the past.

Now I have a future
I am not condemned to stay
Where the oaks move so gracefully
Amongst the river spray.
