Firsts and Lasts

Thu, 01/05/2017 - 21:56 -- maddiej

From running in my last meet

To joining a dance team

From performing on stage despite having cold feet

To raising money for veterans on High Street

From graduating with a class of just two hundred and twenty-one

To meeting a new face everyday

From anxiously waiting for high school to be done

To feeling overjoyed to come home for Christmas

From hearing my grandpa shout when the Buckeyes won

To cherishing my memories with him everyday

From marching on the field when the first half was done

To cheering in The Shoe every Saturday

From having new lasts

To having new firsts

I’ve met a great new friend

I’ve learned how to say goodbye

I’ve learned how to cope

And how to cheer as a true buckeye

There have been many laughs and cries

And inevitable goodbyes

There have been many ups and downs

And even a few meltdowns

But I’ve learned so much about myself, you know?

And boy, do I still have a long way to go!
