The First Time it Mattered

Our eyes mirrored each other, yet the others seemed more beautiful in our own.

His stare comforted me and paralyzed me.

A look so passionate and innocent it made my heart tremble.

I was overwhelmed. New emotions flooded me and I was petrified.

He arrived an inch away from my face, aligned in perfect symmetry.

His gaze lingered until his eyes began to close; softly, gently.

He placed his lips upon mine- softly, gently.

For those seconds I was confused because I was not scared.
