Fingerprints

Location

Well we know it's hard to believe

that just a few years ago we were naive.

You told us we would grow up

and we asked you to remember us while we were small.

You taught and shaped who we are

though we were only three feet tall.

We learned about things that have taken us far

including how to get up after we fall.

We heard that where your treasure is

that's where your heart will be.

Now we know a good deal about hearts and things

and what treasuring really means.

Well we've gone and made great fingerprints

but as we promised, not on walls

and we've touched those around us

as we've become six feet tall.

Today we're all grown up

and we remember you who taught uswhile we were small.
