Finally

For four days it rained

poured and pounded on the roof

and forced me to sleep

with thoughts unsettled and

mind uncleared

I awoke to rumbles of thunder

twines of grey fog tickling the grass

dew clinging desperately to everything

evoking dread and discomfort

I sighed

Heavy steps guided me

to the front window, shielded with dark curtains

All time stops as I push them to the side

and there you are

a solemn figure.

Soaked to the brim

rain trails down your face

You knock on the door-

twice-

no words

Flinging the door open,

time starts again

and there are smiles

because you are home again

finally.
