Society eyes

In Society eyes:

Im an African American female

Im 18 years of age, graduated of Class of 2016

I was born in the 1990’s by the time im 16

I should one on under my arms and another in my belly, a high school dropout and on food stamps

By the time im 18, I should be on or selling drugs to make ends meet

I should have a record for either being in or just got out of jail

By the time my kids are 16 they should have kids of their own, I should be a junky mother

But im 18 years old just graduated from high school, headed to college in the fall

I have no kids, not on drugs, not drinking and no record

Im straight A’s & B’s student with 3.15 GPA

In My Eyes:

Im a funny, crazy, fun-loving young adult

I beat the images what society want me to be, how Im supposed to look and act

Im smart, caring, and protective of who and what in my life

Im Pansexual, and Proud of it

I go to hell and back every day by my family not liking what I label myself

I have people every day telling me im going to get diseases, Im going to hell

Well to be honest I don’t care what they say or think of my choices

I love myself and im finally happy with what Im becoming
