A Figment of My Imagination
The fire was crackling,
burning my eyes with fear,
I'm engulfed in the heat and my heart speeds as fast as the bullet that was shot
into my mother's chest when she went to war.
I thought of everyone I had ever known and loved,
and I closed my eyes
praying to God, it was going to be okay.
Then BOOM!
It was too late.
