The Fight
We’re not fractions
You are not on the top
I am not a denominator
So I will not stop
We are all a hand
separated by fingers
We all connect back to that one palm
Yet, something still tends to lingers
I’d fight for justice and my rights
I’d be a Freedom Rider too
I’d be rebel
I’ll do what others wouldn’t do
The hate against blacks
I just don’t and can’t seem to understand why
It was the black women
who helped white white women get by
Showing her how to properly nurse
Showing her how to clean
Showing her what being a women
truly means
It was the black men in the south
That paved the way
cutting down trees, building roads
captain hero saves the day
One thing that I learned
is this here
When you fight, bring everything
but, leave your fear
