A Feeling Not Returned

I need you. It's a desperation within my soul.

The air won't reach my lungs when I take a breath.

In my chest, I swear there lies a gaping hole

If your eyes remain so empty, it will surely be my death.

I need you. I hear your voice inside my dreams—

The only place where light and warmth exists.

I'm falling apart; I'm splitting at the seams.

I'll shatter to pieces if this pain persists.

I need you. Surely you must know that!

Or are my cries and pleas simply lost?

My fists are bruised, my bones have snapped—

My heart is burdened by the cost.

Nothing will ever pain me so, than the heart that you have burned.

Now I will stay and die alone, with a feeling not returned.
