Fearless Flower

Let them be as weeds
Always pulled, plucked, killed, and dead
But harnessed to the cement sidewalk
I’d rather be a beautiful fearless flower
Lingering in people’s hands, like a boyfriend that will never leave
Your side
To have broken through the surface of the Earth,
To live, to be exposed to the gentle breeze
And the eternal blue sky
To be picked and given to people as presents
To bring a smile to a depressed face
Being a part of a meadow
Full of flowers with sweet fragrances
Id rather be seen, and acknowledged
Than killed with horrid pesticides
And be ripped from the ground with no sympathy
Or stepped on by careless humans.
I’d rather smell of sweet lilac
Than of a malodorous, green stench
If I could be beautiful, and have a sense of power
Then I’d rather be a fearless flower
