Father, Dad, Papa

Blue skies

Good times

Green eyes

I feel like no harm can come by

Not while I have my dad by my side

The world is cruel and cockeyed

It tilts its head back and leads people to die

I’m scared

I’m only five

Lucky for me, I have my dad

Who is indestructible and can survive

Gray skies

Not enough time

Green eyes

I’ve just fought with a friend

I have tears in my eyes and my heart is heavy

My dad tells me the world is not made up of unicorns and fairies

Instead I should see the world as it is

And be ready

I’m only fifteen

Lucky for me, I have my dad

Who seems to be the cheering up maker machine

Dark skies

Dark times

Green eyes

I have come to terms with the world around me

A long time friend if you please

Be cautious as always my dad pleads

But I have the greatest thing a daughter can have

A secret as to why she never gets bruised or bleeds

A dad that taught her not to fear the world but to dive in

Not head first because that’s just plain stupid but to wet their feet

To not be silenced and demand a seat at the table

My dad taught me how to live and conquer all

And to get back up no matter how hard the fall

I am now only nineteen but have faith in my abilities

I’m young and stupid but with a dad like mine

All I’ve ever be is rooted

In love
