False Advertisement

It was false advertisement,
that's what it really was.

She told them she wanted to be beautiful,
they told her that her bones were beautiful,
that empty was the ultimate perfection.
She told them she was hurting,
they told her she could stop it,
that they had the ultimate medicine.
She told them she was hungry,
they told her that was fine,
that starving was the ultimate test of strength.

She told them she wanted to be beautiful,
they told her she'd have to try harder,
that she wasn't empty enough.
She told them she was hurting,
they told her it would stop,
that pretty people didn't hurt.
She told them she was hungry,
they told her to go eat,
that she could just visit the bathroom floor later.

It was false advertisement,
that's what it really was.

They told her she was still ugly,
she told them she was sorry,
that she would try harder next time.
They told her she was worthless,
she told them they were right,
that she would eat less next time.
They told her she should end it,
she told them that she would,
that she would cut deeper next time.
