Extinction Event
Strap In,
Ashes have covered every damned thing.
Cattle are choking, gasping for salvation.
All the clocks have stopped.
And so have the hearts.
An eclipse folds over,
Instead of darkness,
Red light, and acid rain looms over.
Terrified screams drown every other noise.
Everyone gather your loved ones, hold them close.
Everyone is to remain calm, stay indoors.
Everyone, it is not safe to go outside.
Everyone, we have lost this world to the sea.
One by one, cities have fallen.
Crashing from the sky, and onto our poor citizenry.
In the fog, they scatter through this mess,
Looking for what they need to get them by.
Ten minutes past midnight,
And everyone is sober.
No one could’ve seen this coming.
All that’s left to do is wager.
Ruins and creatures of prophecies.
It’s all that is left that stalks these parts.
Running around and spreading misinformation.
Cold silence and atrophied muscles is all they receive.
Amongst the chaos,
One place stands untouched.
That is her temple.
The last of the grounds of salvation.
That will be the last of any ground.
Species of the night gather around,
They watch the world burn.
This is all they have left.
So they will battle for it.
Will there be a hero this time,
To save us from this wickedness?
Or will we be banished,
And never to be remembered again?
Do you remember the last time this happened?
When we were all ready to protect this precious world of ours?
No? Nevermind, then.
It must’ve happened in another world.
Through this wicked storm, someone is laughing.
“Told ya so!”
Who said that? I certainly didn’t.
Could it have been Justice?
He, O’ other half,
Buried under a moon.
What have you done?
You did this?
Oh God, please save us all.
