an excerpt from love

"I love you" she says with cigarette smoke drifting out between her lips.

Those poisonous words waft through the air heavier than the smoke they were breathed through. I know she's not lying, that's why it's so hard to hear. That girl brings me to my knees, She's my full moon. Giving me power and emotion beyond belief, by turning me into a beast.
She's a hard one to love, but she's worth every bit of the effort, because behind her wild free spirited antics is a heart that cares more deeply and with more passion than I can ever begin to understand. She's a feather in the wind, I've learned, so I let her fly. But when that breeze lands her on the ground I'll be there to pick her up and watch her fly away again.
It's a handful, being in love with a wild one... But the sweet taste of her kiss and the passion in her eyes has a strange way of telling me it's a load worth carrying. Her presence is that of the sun itself, radiating. While her mind has all the wonders and awe of the moon.
