Excavate

brittle
and full
of dust,

my soul
is ancient—
bones,
buried deep
beneath.

waiting

to be discovered,
and here
you are,
the archaeologist.

curious
and searching,
you stumble upon
the compact
layers of minerals
that encase me

and carefully
excavate.
