Some people tell me, that they can’t get a job because they are Muslim

They can’t get good grades in school because there black or Hispanic.

 

This truly just sent me into a panic

 

I have heard people say that they are prone to be more successful because they are white,

Asians are smarter.

Well that’s not the truth because the truth goes much farther.

 

So consider this equalities starter

 

Why if we’re all born with the same amount of knowledge

That some are more prone to never go to college?

 

Why is it that if we are all born with 2 arms, 2 legs, 2 hands, and 2 feet

That a certain color of skin "decides" whether we succumb to defeat?

 

Why is it that if two men of different ethnicities commit the same crime

That one of them will wind up having to do more time?

 

What do I have to make myself inferior for?

To make other’s feel better, uh no this is equalities roar.

 

Why is it that people racially judge other people?

When it is said that we are all created equal?

 

People decide character off of racial profiling

So much in fact that because I’m black some of you think that this is an act based off of minority violence.

 

So you know what keep your race talk and your senseless drama

Because if race really hindered you then tell that to Barack Obama.

And don’t say it’s because he’s biracial that he has what he has

Because he was born with the same thing that a lot of us had:

Nothing. 

 

So with that being said.

 

Who is to decide that I cannot accomplish anything?

Regardless of race or color, what can my potential bring? 

 

If obstacles stretch far then I’ll push them down even farther

Because since I’m treated secondary, then that gives me an excuse to work harder.

 

I am not inferior, I will not go away.

And with me there are millions who will fight to have our day.

 

So keep this in your head and memorize it for sure

That the one you profile will develop a heart of a lion and succumb to equalities roar.

 

And like me, there are many more.
