Traveling through empty roads

That I once walked before,

It was only in a dream

That I once saw the cold stone.

Ivy covered the floor and,

The walls hung like mercury,

I decorated the steps with

The roots of living things.

I helped nature take back

What was rightfully her’s,

And the city sunk beneath

The stems of ferns,

Not a sliver of civil life

Was left over when the trees

Passed through,

They pulled the sun along

With ropes tied to their roots,

I saw animals climb up from

Within the earth,

Communicating with each other,

Shaking off the dirt,

I sat within the thorns and leaves,

The only thing left to go was me,

I put my ear to the ground,

And waited for the signal,

Within the earth a tiny rumble

Shook and let me know,

It was time for us to leave,

Time for clean water to flow.
