Ducks Beware

Location

It's that time of year again,

when the duck migration does begin.

Shotguns, waders, and shells,

ready to hunt the flooded rice fields.

Opening morning sunrise,

signals the ducks early surprise.

Mallards, Pintail, Gadwall,

Widgeon, Teal, and all

Fly into that decoy spread,

and land in the watershed.

Shots go off and ducks fall down,

with a great big splashdown.

The retriever is sent in,

he picks up the ducks that lie within.

Once the limit is in reach,

the shooting comes to a sceech.

Until another a day,

the ducks enjoy peace at bay.
