Drowning my Fear

When I look at the ocean or the pool I start to frown

My fear is that I will drown

When I am in water, neck deep

Panic alarm inside my head starts to beep

My heart beats fast

As I pray for my anxiety to pass

Life is full of challenges far and near

I will learn to swim to overcome this fear

One baby step at a time

Swim lessons cost more than a dime

They teach me the strokes and how to float

I listen and watch and make mental notes

I close my eyes to block out the fears

And ignore the whispering voices in my ears

I take a deep breath to save my life

Don’t let your fears hold you back

Believe in yourself and you will overcome any panic attack
