Drive
Fierce burning in my heart,
Flames licking up the sides of my chest.
Running up my throat.
The smoke billows high around my head,
Weaseling it's way between my ears
Wrapping its winding tail around my mind.
But my vision is not clouded.
My goal is clear.
This fire in my chest,
The burning right between my lungs,
Fuels my fight.
With every breath
I'm closer to the top.
Soon I'll reach the turning point
And maybe then I won't have to work so hard.
Perhaps then my drive,
My true mentor,
Can take a rest.
