DREAMS

Location

I want to sleep but I can’t.

Because every night a lingering thought overwhelms my big head.

My dream. My goals. My challenges. All in bed.

I know you have too.

Everybody does. But few do anything about!

Why? Are you scared?

Scared of being CEO of your own corporation?

about being the best singer of this generation?

or the President of this nation?

No you’re not. So what’s holding you back?

Your mom, your dad, your sisters, your brothers?

Your teachers, your pockets, your preachers, stop it.

It’s not.

It’s not the garbage you forgot to take, or the grounding you got for being late.

It’s not the soccer kid who broke your leg, or that girl who stood up you up on your first date.

Neither of that takes the blame.

The mirror knows damn well who’s obsessed with it every morning before school.

It’s you. YES YOU! You!

Young dreamer.

You are a living evil.

You dream and dream to no end. But can’t even pretend to do what it really takes to progress yourself. Cause you’re too scared to embarrass yourself.

I do it too.

But I don’t try to be cool. I don't glorify every little thing I do and act like I rule.

Yet these kids today walk around like they're as hot as can be.

Without a single sense of modesty or originality.

Well I got a message for you.

Quit yapping about what you want to be, and DO!

Stop thinking success is magically going to happen to you.

Get up and do some labor!

or forget it, and pay for it later.

Don’t regret it! you’re going to have to try!

When you’re older it doesn’t get any easier and you’ll have to provide.

Wouldn’t you want it rapidly but happily ridding those bills gone?

And just having to look forward to some family fun?

or would you rather be looking down and listening to your son, when he asks you “Daddy, what have you done?”

Don’t, for the sake of yourself and your future family, be barely getting by until the someone stops by and forces you to say to goodbye.

I dream about what I could be, where my future may lead.

I dream about the glory. About the Fame. About the respect. All given to me!

but respect comes when you have worked so hard for your dreams and reached out so far to obtain.

Where all the putdowns, naysayers, critics and the pain

goes away.

Finally.

Wouldn’t you want to say that? After everything you’ve accomplished, learned, or obeyed from.

That you’re not dumb, You’re not a bum. You’re not that little crumb all glum left alone for some chum.

And you’ve finally made a name for yourself.

Until then, you need to be willing to put up with obstacles of today.

With The disbelievers who will cloud you with their judgement in every way.

Saying things like “you can’t do this” “You can’t do that” “There’s No way”

But who are they??

You don’t care. You Ask them,
“Who you are to me or what you’ve done for me?”

If they shoot down dreams because they were the ones that gave up before even giving it a shot. Tell em,”You don’t matter to me.”

Explain to to them that in the end, “You don’t control me.” And that you were not put into this world “to make you happy.”

Remind them that, “that spot is for someone special. Who you will find when you’re fulfilling your own happiness.

“When I’ve made it.”

You know why?

“Because I’m hungry.”

When you’re hungry you’re fighting through your cupboards, you’re swinging the fridge door open, or sweating to the nearest grocery.

Success is the same way. You need to be..

Craving for the failures. Craving for the hard work.

The blood, sweat and tears that you will conquer.

You need to do everything you can to satisfy that hunger.

Because without dreams there are only nightmares.

Without nightmares, there is only reality.

Without reality, there is only you.

You need to fight the nightmares, create the dreams, and live them through reality.

Then and only then, can you sleep. But why would you? You’re already living your dreams.
