Dream

Lovely and terrible
The world can be.
But at the end of the day
Go to sleep, go to sleep.

Dream of great mountains
That you always can climb
Picture your troubles
Then leave them behind.

Up, up you go
Towards the tippy top
Where the view is inviting
You won’t want to stop.

But whatever goes up
Must always come down
Don’t forget to come back to us
Here on the ground.

Life can be hard
And it’s good to escape
But only for a short while
Because not everyone waits

For those who are dreaming
But don’t want to believe
That their view on the mountain
Could become reality.

Come back, come back
Bring your dreams to the ground
Keep them with you always
To fight back the awful crowd

That keeps us from loving
Wishing and hoping
And dreaming while we are
Awake.
