Distant Yet Close
Distant yet close
A phrase all the more indifferent
To a young child unlearned about the closeness of family
Life gave it meaning once my sister moved from us
And that distance surely changed me
I appreciated the work she put in for her child
And all the calls she made to us to inform us of her new lifestyle
We made plans with all due haste
To visit her and see the child's face
And those weeks flew all too soon
I have newfound love and care
The warmth in my heart over there
Hangs over me, shining as bright as a new moon.
