The Disconnect

You wanted a robot

Sorry you birthed a human being

one with a heart in her chest and

a brain in her head

started as a baby not full grown but

already with a personality of her own

Prayed for a carbon copy but its too bad you see

she didn't come with a program labeled "be just like me"

tried to make her conform and for the most part she did

but that baby girl you birthed became her own kid

not a tin man creation but

Sass Master X

cry a single tear for the mom who had to learn to connect, compromise, and comfort

her flesh and blood little girl

someone whose barely reminiscent of her

independent, in her own world

Her mind, the mom doesn't understand

nor her quirky little comments or actions

they throw mom for a curve

feeling lost and alone the girl rose up tough

leaving mommy to wonder

when her daughter grew up
