Discarded

Proverbs 20:27

27 The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord,
Searching all the inner depths of his heart.

I try to understand you ... discarded on the side

A faded page from an old book hidden in an attic

Forgotten long ago ignored by a previous generation

And now debated as evidence by the smart and the hectic

We have come a long way in depravity’s downward spiral

We pick up speed constantly in our selfish appetite

We justify about everything kneeling at the idol of comfort

and judge the disagreeing: brown, yellow, black and white

We used to walk hand in hand, but now we’re all grown up

Myself a good example of a self-made bowl of jelly

I believe about everything and drink out of every cup

that is put before me to satisfy my swollen belly

Let all self destruct and let the Lord sort it out

This seems the new gospel carved in stony hearts

Me, mine and ours is that what this is all about

Everyone for himself and God for all till we part
