Disarray

Everything in disarray

A piece of gossip puts your life on display

Now you scramble to cram it back in the mold

Of what society deems okay

Word of mouth changes things in youth

It keeps people from having to face the truth

Instead they spread rumors about people they don’t even know

Have you ever made such a low blow?

We all have at some point, no doubt

But it’s clearly not something to joke about

Just wait until it happens to you

Just that once, and for forever you'll be through

Everything in disarray

A piece of gossip puts your life on display

And now you scramble to cram it back in the mold

Of what society deems okay

Sometimes life scatters like leaves in the breeze,

Or townsfolk desperately escaping a disease

And you have to run around to sew back the pieces

And fight to iron out all of the creases

Then once everything's settled again

Your little cousin jumps in your neat leaf pile

Like not having a steering wheel for the upcoming bend

But you know you just can't blame that child

Everything in disarray

A piece of gossip puts your life on display

And now you scramble to cram it back in the mold

Of what society deems okay
