Dirty skin

Dirty skin. Black skin.  Brown skin. Just because it is the color of the very earth that nurture us does not constitute it as dirty.

The rich dark color is the result of souls burning so bright it charred the body.

The lips of these charred bodies are swollen from singing graceful hymn and sorrowful prayer.

Their hair stands with power and curl in defiance.

Their noses broaden to breath in HOPE.

These beautiful beings are a symbol of a sin that cannot be erased by any holy water.

The only reason why the color people may look dirty is the history of oppression inked on their clean skin.

Our skin is not dirty, history is.
